A variety of accommodation available, including luxury tented suites. Activities include game drives, horse trials, clay pigeon shooting, putt-putt or total relaxation around the pools or heated jacuzzi.

Monate is home to a variety of game and are part of a cheetah rehabilitation project. Our exceptional and vibrant team will ensure your function is an overwhelming and memorable success.

Monate private game reserve is set in 1839 hectares of bush, open plains and a variety of interesting koppies – home to leopard, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, crocodile, hippo, giraffe, zebra, brown hyena and a large variety of antelope.

Our professional & enthusiastic Game Rangers keep guests intrigued during early morning & afternoon game drives, exploring the various habitats & their many inhabitants. Share their knowledge about our Cheetah Re-wilding (in conjunction with de Wildt) and Brown Hyena research projects (for more information please refer to our latest news).

Being close to Nylsvley Nature Conservancy, home to 46% of the bird species in South Africa, sightings are prolific.

What to bring?

• Comfortable closed shoes for activities or bush dinner venues.
• Warm jacket for winter & afternoon game drives.
• Rain coat for Summer (rain season).
• Swimming Costume & Sun Block.
• Binoculars, Camera/Video Camera.
• Sweets & Snacks (we do not have a tuck shop on the premises, nearest town 45kms).

• Our Main Gate is open from 08h00 – 17h00.  Please be advised that there will be a gate guard for pre-arranged arrivals & departures.
• PLEASE NOTE:  You will be held liable for an extra charge for any unscheduled / late arrivals.

Ideal for honeymooners and executives are our distinct Hampton and Rushton Tented Suites, decorated in a sophisticated blend of both Chinese and Colonial antiques, each with open access to a private sundeck and pool, oozing complete luxury in an environment where pampering and attention to detail is absolute.

Hampton Tented Suite
Evenings are an elegant affair with candles, soft music, open boma fire & starry skies.  Canvas walls reveal bush & wild life, the ideal accommodation to be at one with nature.  This suite accommodates two adults sharing with a roll-top bath that extends to an outdoor shower, overlooking a waterhole.  There’s no need for air-conditioning being rustic with a thatched roof, making this a memorable open-air retreat.

Rushton Tented Suite
This exclusive & luxurious destination maintains a high level of privacy combined with intimate service, suited to those who enjoy being spoiled.  Rushton can accommodate 4 adults sharing in two beautiful  bedrooms each with its own full en-suite bathroom & air-conditioning.  The indoor fire place proves to be the perfect spot for cosy nights.  A romantic experience to be remembered.

DINING

At Monate our unsurpassed dining experience is designed to tantalize your taste buds, specializing from venison to vegetarian dishes, served in different settings, such as our unique natural cave, various bush venues or around the lodge camp fire.

GAME LODGE

Nestled in manicured gardens, the rustic Monate family suites and rooms offer an opportunity to indulge in a peaceful & relaxing environment.  With all the amenities & necessities (including tea, coffee & hairdryers) at one’s reach, each air-conditioned room also has its own spacious full en-suite bathroom. 

Monate can accommodate a maximum of 40 people sharing or 25 singles.

Rates

Child Policy

• Monate is Child Friendly.
• 0 – 2 Year old children to share with parents at no extra charge, but are not permitted to join game drives.
• 3 – 11 Year old children either sharing a room with their parents or in a separate room will be charged at 50% of the adult rate, which includes meals, accommodation and game drives.
• Children from 12 years old will require a separate room at the adult rate.
• Baby sitting facilities available (please enquire at reception) at an extra charge.
• For any special children’s meals/times please arrange before arrival.

Attractions

• Children under the age of 2 are not permitted on game drives.
• Game Drive times differ according to seasons (please contact reception for more information).

Team Building
Coupled with the beauty of the surroundings and superb accommodation, the location is ideal for team building, which can be customized to suit individual needs. Spa treatments can be arranged for larger groups.

Choices are endless… Horse trails are popular and thoroughly enjoyed by beginners and experienced riders alike.  Frolic on the trampolines or play a game of swing-ball or table tennis. We are excited to introduce our new adventurous putt-putt course.  For the more energetic there’s the volley ball court, our fully equipped gym or release some energy with clay pigeon shooting! Naturally the jacuzzi & 2 swimming pools are ideal for those who choose to embark on total relaxation!
